The Kitáb-I-Íqán, or Book of Certitude, is one of two pre-eminent books in the Baha'i faith. This work, which does not explicitly announce the establishment of the Bahai faith or Bahá'u'lláh's station as a Manifestation of God, does effectively establish the foundations upon which both the Babi faith and, ultimately, the Bahai faith can be understood.
Revealed in 1861-1862 C.E., this work argues that the rejection of the Bab was like similar rejections of past prophets, Christ and Muhammad among them. The causes for this rejection are explored and Bahá'u'lláh explains that among the causes of rejection was the recalcitrance of religious leaders and the literal interpretation of scripture.
